Are you the kind ofARK: Survival Ascended player who’s been enjoying the mythical and fantastical worldof the Astraeos map? Then you’re in luck because even more magical stuff has recently been addedthanks to the Heaven & Abyss update, bringing new areas to explore, new dangers to face, and a little something called the Kraken.
As the update’s name suggests, there are two new regions to explore: Helianthos, a lush realm of flowery fields, peaceful creatures, and islands floating in the sky; and Abyssanthos, a deep sea expanse with massive air bubbles that surround a mythical city along with places for undersea base building. The update also features treacherous seas to traverse and a new warship known as the Trireme to navigate them.
Speaking of dangers, the update has also added several new critters to Astraeos, such as the fiery Boaratos, new minibosses in the form of the Colossus and Kroaratos, and the legendary Kraken sea monster that has two different fights that take place above or below the surface of the water. Just in case you want to switch up your monstrous cephalopod fights for the heck of it. The wider Astraeos map also saw more additions including new labyrinths to delve, the Grand Tortugar tame, and the desert realm of Pyranthos, among other things.
While there are a lot of new things added to Astraeos, other variants of the survivalboxwere updated too, including a new monster known as the Concavenator that swims beneath the sand inASA and a new ship and new outposts added to the Tides of Fortune DLC.
