Where Winds Meet is getting ready to send players somewhere a little different from the places they’ve been exploring so far. The journey in Where Winds Meet is heading east toward the coast, in a new region called Qingzhou.
The Wuxia-themed action RPG from Everstone Studios and NetEase is adding the new area on October 15th. It’s bringing a whole new stretch of ancient China, along with fresh martial arts, bosses, mysteries, and plenty of other things.
If you’ve spent most of your time travelling through the Where Winds Meet deserts, grasslands, and forests, Qingzhou should feel like a pretty big change of scenery. The new region takes inspiration from the coastline of eastern China, particularly Shandong province. It’s where towering mountains, sprawling plains, rocky peninsulas, river estuaries, and sheltered bays all come together.
Qingzhou is built around the relationship between China’s natural landscapes, its history, and the folklore that’s grown around them over the centuries. Ancient inscriptions carved into cliffs, the Yellow River flowing toward the ocean, and stories about immortal mountains hidden somewhere between the sea and the sky all help shape the region. There’s even a local legend about whether a flock of sheep can actually walk a rainbow into the clouds after rainfall.
Qingzhou in Where Winds Meet is like an Eastern version of One Thousand and One Nights
You can climb mountains for enormous ocean views, wander through lively villages, follow rumours about immortals, or simply sit down and listen to locals telling stories. Even if you’re mostly interested in exploring the world rather than getting stuck into the combat, there’s quite a bit to discover.
The journey begins at Mount Tai, known as the Eastern Peak and regarded as the foremost among China’s Five Great Mountains. It has a long history of imperial pilgrimages, sacred ceremonies, and famous cliffside calligraphy. You’ll climb stone steps beneath pine trees, passing landmarks like the South Gate to Heaven and ancient rock inscriptions along the way.
The new Local system will let Wanderers meet and befriend people from different villages. Once you’ve built a connection with them, you can invite them to accompany you on your travels. Depending on who joins you, they can help navigate unfamiliar routes, solve complicated puzzles, and deal with problems that might otherwise slow your progress.
So, grab the game from the Google Play Store or the App Store to explore the new region.
