Who’s ready for S.U.M.R. Camp? No, we’re not intentionally misspelling the word “summer” here; that’s an acronym for the Super Ultra Mega Resort (yes seriously) that’s opened in Season 5 of the early access multiplayer playground that is Skate.
This new mega park located in the mountains is the headline attraction for the new season, with the promise of huge ramps and lots of big air.As mentioned before, this area is once again being temporarily paywalled, letting those who buy a premium battle pass get into the new area any time they want, while free players will have to wait until “general access” starts on October 6th.
Another big addition is a set of new tricks known as underflips, with a total of 16 varieties for those who want to keep their skateboard flipping around a whole bunch. The season also brings the block parties feature to the game properly, letting large gaggles of players come together at specific locations and times for four different kinds of friendly competition.
Other updates of major note include progression changes that include new endless and crew bounties, a long list of gameplay fixes, the promise of a new skate park arriving mid-season, and rather unfortunately, the end of legacy skate passes that would allow players to continue unlocking goodies from the previous season’s pass starting with Season 5; developer Full Circle calls this a result of tuned earn rates for the Tix that unlock cosmetics in the pass.
