Grand Blue Traits Tier List

This Tier List is up to date as of September 7th, 2026.

S+ TIER

  • Maniac
    • The lower your HP, the harder you fight: +25% DMG and 15% less DMG taken. Starts below 50% HP and becomes full at 15% remaining HP.
  • Limit Breaker
    • Grants each Skill an additional Upgrade.
  • Gaudy
  • Copycat
    • Store the last Skill that hit you (excluding Fruit skills), and press X within 30 seconds to cast it back at the opponent.

S-TIER

  • Beast Tamer
    • Gain an additional Pet slot, and each pet costs 1 less Skill slot.
  • Man of Steel
    • Attacks which deal less than 3% of your HP will not stun.
  • Protagonist
    • Once per fight below 20% HP: +10% DMG and 10% DMG Reduction for 8 seconds. Grows with willpower.
    • Perfect for making a final stand with huge combat potential.
  • Pyromaniac
    • Burn builds 25% quicker and deals 25% stronger DMG ticks.
    • The ideal skill to have if you have a corresponding fire-based skill or the Flame Fruit.
  • Predator
    • Deal 20% more DMG to enemies below 15% HP.
  • Second Wind
    • Once per fight, when below 20% HP: restore ALL energy and gain Hyperarmour (5 seconds).
    • Incredible self-preservation Trait that makes all the difference in conflict between a win and a loss.
  • Arrogant
    • +15% DMG above 90% HP.
    • Great for engaging in combat with stronger hits, taking down opponents quicker. Plus, if you master blocking, you’ll basically always have a 15% DMG boost.
  • Adrenaline
    • Knocking down or defeating an enemy restores 10% HP and ALL energy. (30-second cooldown)
    • Absolutely perfect from the early to late game. You’ll always be quested with combat to some degree, so this one pays off, especially in PvE situations.
  • Battle Tempo
    • Landing hits builds up to +7.5% DMG. Taking DMG drains it to -7.5%. Resets out of combat.
    • Great for experienced players who execute good blocks and guards.

A-TIER

  • Glass Cannon
    • Deal 15% more DMG, but take 15% more DMG.
  • Assassin
    • First attack out of combat deals 25% extra DMG (30% if from behind).
    • This Trait is synonymous with Arrogant, but is only viable for the first hit.
  • Prodigy
    • +15% EXP boost (Skill, Pet, Lifeskills, and general EXP).
    • Ideal for cutting the level grind.
  • Night Owl
    • +1 Speed and +5% DMG at night.
    • Perfect for Mink players, who are some of the best races in the game currently.
  • Early Bird
    • +1 Speed and +5% DMG during the day.
    • The opposite of Night Owl, and ideal for all races.
  • Vengeful
    • When hit, stack damage until your next attack. (+1% per hit, maxing at 10%).
    • Basically a free DMG buff that scales with how damaged you are.
  • Iron Will
    • Attacks which deal over 10% of your total HP will have a 10% DMG Reduction.
    • Great for tanking big attacks and surviving.

B-TIER

  • Sturdy Guard
    • Once every 20 seconds, your guard holds through a hit that would have otherwise broken it.
    • Great self-preservation Trait, but is very timing-specific.
  • Chameleon
    • Standing still for 4 seconds will cloak you.
    • Nice to hide from enemies, but isn’t useful most of the time.
  • Nimble
  • Gourmand
    • 25% stronger Food Buffs, and +25% effect duration.
    • Perfect for gluttons who carry food and remember to use it.
  • Enduring Speed
    • No longer slowed when at low energy.
    • Huge benefit for evasion and escaping before dying to players and NPCs. The death penalty is higher than the penalty of assigning this Trait to a slot.
  • Athlete
    • Dashes recharge 40% quicker, or 20% quicker whilst in combat.
    • Basically a faster stamina recharge, which is always valuable.
  • Pacifist
    • Permanent PvP protection whilst under 1,000 Bounty.
    • Perfect for early-game players whilst they complete missions and begin training their skills.
  • Hoarder
    • Lose 50% less gold when you die or get pickpocketed.
    • Pretty average Trait, but it’s always good to keep money rather than lose it.

C-TIER

  • Marathoner
    • While running without taking a hit, build up +0.5 Speed per second up to +4. Hits or stopping running resets.
    • Small boost that only triggers under specific conditions.
  • Escape Artist
    • Gain a short speed boost when recovering from a knockdown.
    • A niche and situational Trait that isn’t a guarantee to pay off.
  • Climber
    • Gain a second climb, reaching higher elevations.
    • Great for smoother movement across towns, reaching places quicker, and evading situations.
  • Coward
    • Below 30% HP, gain a burst of speed when not attacking.
    • Requires a lot of specific things to happen in a set order to execute. Kind of a mid payoff.
  • Bargainer
    • 10% cheaper Non-Premium NPCs shop items.
    • Decent for a bargain, but this Trait is equally covered by the Celestial Being race. It’s also not enough of a discount to justify a whole Trait slot.
  • Diver
    • Doubles lung capacity. Oxygen lasts twice as long underwater.
    • Not super useful long-term as the game has boats, and a failsafe with the Fishfolk and Half-Fish races.

D-TIER

  • Garbage Collector
    • Crates and barrels drop twice as much when broken.
    • Crates and barrels don’t hold much of value to begin with, so this Trait is pretty lacklustre.
  • Pitcher
    • Rocks thrown travel twice as fast.
    • Rocks are hardly anybody’s main tool for combat, but giving enemies less evasion and dodge chance is always a bonus.

What Each Tier Means

  • S+: It’s hard to compare the Mythics to anything else, so this top tier is reserved for the metas.
  • S: The best Traits to mix and match between, depending on your existing build and what best suits you.
  • A: Secondary Trait options to fill in the slots. These are great, but have some flawed attributes such as timing or when the Trait applies.
  • B: Decent for early-game players who don’t have a lot of Trait Rerolls to play with, but they’re quite niche and specific, and aren’t one-Trait-fits-all.
  • C: Not great utility, but better than the bottom tier. Overall, I’d suggest rerolling.
  • D: Reroll. These are the worst Traits with no real use long-term, or even within the early game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which three Traits should you choose?

Arrogant and Maniac are two sides of the same coin, covering the start of a battle and the end of one (if you get low on health). I suggest these two alongside Night Owl (if a Mink), or Pyromaniac (if using the Flame Fruit), or any of the complementary S+ Tier choices.

How to get more Trait Rerolls

The easiest way to stockpile them is by redeeming Codes. I suggest joining the Grand Blue Discord and browsing the Codes channel for any you haven’t yet redeemed.

Note: Some Codes are timer-locked, meaning you don’t get the rewards immediately after redemption and need to wait a set amount of time before you can claim them.

It seems you’ve stumbled upon my bio! I’m Sho, your local weeb. Off the clock I am typically watching anime, reading manga, or doing art. I think it’s safe to say that all my unpaid thoughts revolve around anime… That said, watch One Piece! (Or don’t, I’m just a biography.)
