The setting is a Japanese girls’ school where you explore the relationship between the two protagonists. The story unfolds across one full year at the school.
You follow Airi Aihara, who feels stuck, almost like she has stopped moving altogether. That’s until one day she happens to hear another girl named Aoi singing. Something about that voice pulls Airi in, and that chance encounter becomes the starting point for the entire story.
The game follows Airi and Aoi through spring, summer, autumn and winter as they get closer. They meet in spring, spend the summer together, move into autumn and eventually reach winter, with their relationship changing along the way.
You watch the two girls gradually learn who the other person really is, understand each other better and later realize just how strongly they have been drawn together.
It’s also a coming-of-age story in that sense. By seeing themselves through each other, both Airi and Aoi start figuring out what they actually want from life and what kind of path they want to follow.
The changing seasons are also part of the presentation. Character art and event scenes shift as the year moves from spring into summer, autumn and winter. It helps the game track the emotional changes happening between Airi and Aoi.
The Sound of Spring Is Like You is now out on Android and iOS, where you can unlock the full game for $9.99. As of now, the game is available only in Korean and Japanese, without any English text.
