Mini-MMO Eldegarde claims there is a future for the game including peer-to-peer online play

Back in March, we hadthe unfortunate duty to report thatEldegarde, the mini-MMO from developer Notorious Studios, was having to sunset as the game was not successful enough to support the developer long-term. It looks as if there’s a new glimmer of potential life in this one yet, however, as CEO Chris Kaleiki hasshared a Discord announcement that could bring the game back online.

“The good news is that it looks like there will be a future for the game and IP going forward, with me and some of the team involved,” he writes. “The goal will be to put Eldegarde back online with a P2P server as soon as possible, and we believe that if things go well we can do this in the next few months, at least a private beta with the community.”

Here’s where we have to splash on some possible bad news, however: Kaleiki does point out that the process of bringing the game and IP back is “taking a while,” with no specific provided. He also points out that the remaining team members will have to use “the help of AI to help in development.” Kaleiki frames this as a benefit for its smaller size, as it no longer needs a “breakout or bust” development mentality and that Notorious can slowly grow the game and its IP over time.

More details are promised at a later point in time, but if you happen to have been among those who enjoyed the gamelike MOP’s Sam did, then perhaps its apparent eventual return is a positive for you regardless.
