Koei Tecmo revealed in the September 2026 Nintendo Direct that it is working on a new 3D adventure game for the Switch 1 and 2 based on The Apothecary Diaries. The company also confirmed that it will release this game not only in Japan but also worldwide. While a game based on the franchise has also appeared for online browsers, this one will be available as an offline single-player game for consoles. It will be known outside Japan as The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, according to a brief peek at it during a sizzle reel in the showcase.

The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother will have the player assume the role of the series protagonist Maomao. They will be able to control her movements as she gathers medicine ingredients in a 3D world exploration, while investigating mystery scenes with point-and-click examinations and deduction selections.

While The Apothecary Diaries game also appeared in the American Nintendo Direct via the Partner Spotlight Sizzle Reel, the Japanese Direct has a longer segment dedicated to it. A standalone version of the game’s presentation trailer is also available on Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube channel:

The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother will be available for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 worldwide in early 2027.
