Not even two weeks ago, Gamigo started teasing that it might finally get back around to retooling PvP features for Trove – ideally, we hoped, for the game’s (actually solid but underplayed) bomber royale mode. At the time, it seemed vague and distant at best. But it turns out, Gamigo was already working on it – and now it’s literally on the PTS for you to test.
“Welcome to Trove: Rematch!” Gamigo says. “PvP has returned to Trove, and it’s better than ever. Fight for glory, dominance, and epic loot! Jump into Battle Mode and queue straight into Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, or Bomber Royale, where rebuilt matchmaking gets you into a fight fast and rebalanced stat scaling means your skill decides the match, not just your gear. Every victory earns Battle Coins to spend at the Battle Bench, and every placement pushes you up the new PvP leaderboards. The arena is open! Trovians its time for the rematch!”
What Gamigo appears to have done here is expand Bomber Royale into a PvP mode set called Battle Mode, which includes Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, and Bomber Royale. The patch notes suggest that the studio has updated existing maps and expanded the map pool to 35, added a new currency, nerfed stuns and slows, introduced stat scaling, and reset PvP levels. Not everything is finished yet, of course, but what’s there is testable.
The PTS is simple to access; just open up the Glyph launcher to grab the PTS client, then launch and log in. The PvP portal is in the sprawling main hub, or you can apparently queue through the menu instead.
