gamescom week has officially begun. However, its start is a bit different from what everyday gamers might expect. While Opening Night Live (ONL)—the game showcase held the night before the main exhibition—marks the start of the main show, gamescom dev kicks off a day earlier.

gamescom dev is a global developer conference. Formerly known as GDC Europe in past years, it stepped away from the GDC moniker quite a while ago to establish itself as gamescom’s own standalone developer event. True to its nature, developers from famous global studios as well as seasoned AAA and indie developers take the stage to share their real-world experience firsthand.

While most people look forward to the excitement of a main trade show, the talks and discussions here often deliver immensely meaningful insights to industry professionals.
