Earlier this week during our Daily Grind session about choosing three MMOs, one of our readers had wondered aloud ifAllods Online is still running. The answer to that is, of course, it is, but it also made me realize that we hadn’t peeked in on the game in a while. And it just so happens that its most recent updatehas introduced an entire new area for players to explore.
This new area is known as the Oasis of Yolicztl, a new island full of “sand and jungle, ancient ruins, and ambrosia crystals” that brings beauty and danger in equal measure (as one would expect from a new MMO zone). Players will move through searing sand, jungle oases, and toward a power-filled temple, all while being wary of threats like a hyena rider, a sand worm, and some sterner challenges within the Hanging Gardens temple.
In addition to the new area and new fights, players can also make a deal at an abandoned camp that strengthens one hero but weakens others, search for tents with notes to piece together clues, and earn a special Ambrosia Crystallizer item that lets characters transform into a statue as a souvenir. It’s definitely bringing a lot of tropical island exploration vibes for players to check out if they haven’t done so already.
