SleepingMuseum has dropped its latest horror game with spooky graveyards, grim reapers, fortune-telling, and a fluffy creature. Death Antique is now available on iOS and Android, with full English and Korean localisation included at launch.
Death Antique the newest game from the Japanese indie studio behind the critically acclaimed horror title Death Palette. The launch isn’t worldwide just yet. Right now, Death Antique is available in the United States, South Korea, Canada, Australia, India, and 9 Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The EU, UK, and other regions are planned to get the game at a later date.
In Death Antique, you play as a young grim reaper
But she has lost her scythe, and her entire job involves collecting souls. So, she has to sneak around graveyards and gather wandering souls while avoiding the prowling dead. As her, you hide behind tombstones and stay out of the line of sight of the dead while grabbing souls as they run away.
And when the horror starts getting a little too much, there’s Floof, your dog-shaped companion. You can pet Floof to calm yourself down. The creature can also transform into a giant Floof Wall that makes you invincible. There’s also a Retry Fortune Card for the moments when your attempt goes horribly wrong, and you need a second chance to turn things around.
Between your nightly soul-harvesting sessions, you can hang out with visitors and play four different card games. They’re simple but tricky, and winning more of these games lets you power up Floof. So, under all of that is a story involving stars, destiny, heaven, earth, and a fortune teller working in a dark alleyway.
Death Antique is a mobile-first game, so you can play it with one hand very easily. And despite the horror label, it clearly isn’t aiming to be relentlessly terrifying. Instead, it’s for gamers who like the idea of stealth horror but don’t necessarily want something that’s too scary.
