It’s patch day over in cozy mini-MMO Palia, and the centerpiece of today’s release is a brand-new feature called civic projects. We promise it’s not as boring as we just made it sound; it’s actually co-op construction reminiscent of similar projects in lots of MMOs. I first saw it waaaaay back in Ultima Online, so it’s super welcome here.
“Palia’s first-ever Civic Project has arrived!” Daybreak-owned Singularity 6 says. “The Civic Project: Docks calls on all Palians to contribute items that help shape the world of Palia and rebuild the Kilima Docks. Kick things off by speaking with Ashura to help rebuild the harbor, establish a route to the Royal Highlands, and strengthen trade relationships! Contribute Building Supplies and Donation Kits at workbenches placed around the area, or from the comfort of your own Home Plot.”
In exchange for their efforts, players will be able to unlock things like decor, tints, and even titles, though S6 warns players that some elite rewards are for hardcore grinders. “We built the vast majority of rewards for this project to be accessible to all players; however we saved the last few rewards for the truly die-hards who want to show off and give something for the very few to continue to pursue,” says the studio. “Trust us when we say it’s ok to tap out!” I think they just told us to touch grass!
The patch also heralds a new lunar path called Path of the Great Sage, the first four friendship levels for Taylin, a new line of house architecture inspired by Queen Ushindi, a new title system to go along with nameplates, new Valkyrie-themed horses that produce free arrows, free-cam mode, new kitchen decor, new plushies, a glow-up for eyebrows and eyelashes so you can improve your eyemaxxing, and gobs more.
