WRUP: Rejected ideas I have put forth for making our site feel appropriately Halloween-ish edition

every time you post a comment a SKELETON pops out

every time you click an article a SKELETON pops out

every time you say “wow” a SKELETON pops out

every time a SKELETON pops out another SKELETON pops out

Editor’s Note: Eliot, we’ve talked about this extensively and you can’t just say “a skeleton pops out” every time. For one thing, you have to start by answering what you mean by “a skeleton pops out.” Do you mean that it pops out of our readers’ computers or phones? Do you mean an image file? A video? Please answer this question. Have you been taking those pills we talked about? Those aren’t good for you.

Eliot’s Note: every time someone yells at me a SKELETON pops out

So, What Are You Playing this weekend? Bonus question: What sort of Halloween decor would you love to put up if time and money weren’t an issue?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): My friend is trying to help me sort my storage in Pokopia on my main island, so I should probably oversee that, plus Pokemon Go has Zorua Community Day Saturday. That means a map full of your buddies, so at least that could make for a fun screenshot.

Man, that’s a bonus question. I once saw this animatronic at a Spirit Halloween. It just looks like the Ring lady standing with her back to you, but when you get close, she bends all the way back, face still covered with hair, screaming, but holding the candy bowl. I would get that, even though I think it’s been like 10 years since we had a trick or treater. I mean, I don’t have to use it just for Halloween, right?

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna.bsky.social, blog): Realistically, I won’t have time this weekend, but I’m going to try to putter around in into Lord of the Rings Online.

Bonus: I really want one of those gigantic two-story skeletons. There’s a house around here that just leaves its giant skelly out all year and swaps in a new hat for every season – skelly Santa is my fave – but my neighbors would probably not enjoy this as much as I would.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes.bsky.social, blog): Well, there’s some Aion 2 to dig in to for a bit, and I’m likely going to watch my family play Star Wars: Galactic Racer, but I also picked up Ace Combat 8 and think I’ll give that a swing once or twice. Assuming I’ve the time for it.

Bonus: Oh man, I would do up one of those big silly inflatable pumpkins. Or maybe a few of them. Or failing that, lean really hard into the witchy/Samhain side of things; wreaths, besoms, candles, stuff like that.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Having hit True Master inWarframe and being a bit light on goals forFinal Fantasy XIV at the moment, I’m not sure. Try to bolster myself back up into managingWorld of Warcraft Forever, maybe? But I don’t want to burn out on that before the real launch.

I honestly wouldn’t do a lot of decorating for Halloween, but that’s mostly because if time and money weren’t an object my home would already look like I was a cousin to the Addams family, so Halloween would largely be a lateral move.

Sam Kash(@samkash@mastodon.social): I will be touching down in Trove for a bit . I’ve had my eye on it since the new update dropped a couple of weeks ago. I used to play it with the kids years ago but haven’t recently so this should be a fun hop back in.

Bonus: I’d love to make a big decorated yard. One decorated like a different theme every year. Like maybe one year it could be all He-man themed. Another it could be Adventure Time or Steven Universe. That’d be great.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I am continuing the campaign in Diablo IV and playing some Overwatch and ZeroSpace on the side.

Bonus: I love Halloween decorations but am uncomfortable with how much plastic they entail, so if money were no object I’d try to get all kinds of wooden decorations. Go all Wickerman up in this piece. I think that’d be sick.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!
