It’s time to go hunting for buried treasure inStar Citizen of all places while also working your way through typed pirate-y brogue. Yes, the annualPirate Week mini-event is live, promising some thematically appropriate activities and item sales for the alpha sandbox.

Game activities for this event include a search for a gold doubloon that starts on the official site and sees additional clues posted to the MMO’s social media and forums, while the Arena Commander module brings back Pirate Swarm mode. CIG is also hosting a community contest that challenges players to make a wanted poster of their character, while the cash shop is loaded down with pirate-styled ship paints and starter bundle sales, as is ever the case for events from the game.

In otherSC news, the most recent roadmap update calls attention to new missions arriving in a later patch for alpha 4.10 that will let players take up hauling, mining, and combat activities to help Orison recover, while alpha 4.11 continues to work on the planet Nyx III and a new electricity-firing assault rifle. Incidentally, the post further points out that this build has been shifted to sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

Longtime MMORPG gamers will know that Star Citizen was originally Kickstarted for over $2M back in 2012 with a planned launch for 2014. As of 2026, it still lingers in an incomplete but playable alpha, having raised over $1B from gamers over years of continuing crowdfunding and sales of in-game ships and other assets. It is currently the highest-crowdfunded video game ever and has endured both indefatigable loyalty from advocates and immense skepticism from critics. A co-developed single-player title, Squadron 42, has also been repeatedly delayed.
