If you’re one of the few and proud PvP fans inDune Awakening, you probably feel like you’re second chair at best most of the time. But fear not because creative director Joel Bylos assures you thatthere are still some PvP plans on deck.
Bylos first admits that the vast majority of players within the survival MMO have been PvE fans, and the attempt to blend PvE’ers and PvP’ers did not pan out. “Metrics-wise, 80% of our players were PvE, and not PvPers. So we’ve decided to focus more on that audience,” he’s quoted as saying. “PvP players and PvE players don’t really want to play together, and when they do, the PvP players are sharks in a fish tank.”
Yet even as PvE is a dominant part of the population and the game will be getting a single-player mode soon, PvP ideas are still being considered, including more faction vs. faction PvP, while Bylos also points out that more efforts will be aimed in this direction once the console release is complete. “We will look into doing more structured PvP things in the future,” he says.
