By chance, my daughter got obsessed with Fall Guys and begged to play it on PS5 this week, reminding me that it existed. I actually had to go look up what had happened to the game because my memory kept telling me that Epic Games had done it dirty. My memory was right, sort of; just two years after buying up the game, Epic laid off a large number of staff from developer Mediatonic, and the game only kept shrinking, which is wild for a game that debuted so well.
But that was years ago, so I trekked over to the Fall Guys Reddit, where it just so happened that players were freaking out about a new “leak” from just a few days ago that claimed the remaining devs at Mediatonic have moved over to Fortnite and Fortnite Blitz. Fortunately, the Fall Guys community manager jumped in to say that Mediatonic has actually been working on multiple games, including Fall Guys – and in fact, that a new patch was coming out this week.
All of this is a roundabout way to say that the patch is actually here now, so no need to go Chicken Little on this poor game. However, it’s not the world’s biggest update, and thus far, the announcement is just on Twitter.Notably, the patch includes fixes to anti-cheat and annoying names, crash bugs, desync and movement problems, arrow indicator bugs, and stability, as well a bunch of tweaks to borky levels. The team is also bringing back Blast Ball levels. Hey, at least it’s something, right?
